Government to Cover Medical Expenses of Security Personnel Injured During Election
KATHMANDU, Feb 25 (2026) – The Government of Nepal has announced that it will bear the full treatment costs for security personnel and election police injured during the upcoming House of Representatives elections.
During a press briefing on Wednesday, Government Spokesperson and Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal shared the decisions made by the Council of Ministers in its meeting held on Tuesday. The government has committed to providing financial assistance to the dependent families of any security personnel who may lose their lives during the election period.

Medical Coverage: The state will cover all medical expenses for Police, Armed Police Force, and temporary “Election Police” injured on duty.

Public Holiday: A three-day nationwide public holiday has been declared from Falgun 20 to 22, 2082 (early March 2026) for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for Falgun 21 (March 5).

China’s Support: Acceptance of a $4 million USD cash grant from the Chinese government to facilitate the parliamentary elections.

Bangladesh Relations: Approval and support for the Foreign Minister’s recent visit to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Bangladesh’s newly elected Prime Minister, Tarek Rahman.

Budhigandaki Project: Approval of the financial investment model for the Budhigandaki Storage Hydropower Project.

Judicial and Administrative Appointments
The Cabinet also designated all 77 District Courts to handle cases related to offenses under Section 140 of the Insurance Act, 2079. Additionally, it approved the participation of IGP Dan Bahadur Karki in the 21st INTERPOL Annual Heads of NCB Conference in France this coming April.
